Safe e-commerce – What does the certification mean?

Safe E-Commerce is a certification for e-commerce companies. E-commerce businesses are companies that sell goods and services via an online store (distance selling). E-commerce is based on exactly the same principle as traditional mail order, the difference being that the goods are displayed on a website and the purchase contract is concluded directly on the website.
There are currently thousands of operators selling goods and services on the internet in Sweden and most of them are reputable. However, in order to protect your personal data and other sensitive information, it is important that you know who you are providing it to. You may also want to feel confident that the company will deliver the goods within the agreed time.

The aim of the Safe E-Commerce Certification is to help you, the consumer, choose the right e-commerce company when you shop so that you can feel safe and secure even after you have clicked “buy”. The aim of Safe E-Commerce is to make shopping online as safe and secure as shopping in a physical store.
When you buy from a company that has the Safe E-Commerce certification, it means that the company has signed an agreement to comply with a number of requirements. Only stable and reputable e-commerce companies have the right to carry the Safe E-Commerce certification.
Safe E-Commerce requirements are designed to ensure that you, the consumer, are aware of and can exercise your rights when shopping online. Among other things, it requires the company to be clear about its identity, have secure procedures for handling personal data, use secure payment solutions and have stable finances.

Svensk Distanshandel AB verifies that the requirements are followed by the certified companies through credit checks and investigations in case of suspected deficiencies. To give you extra security, Trygg E-handel accepts tips from you as a consumer.
If you tip off a company that has the Trygg E-Commerce certification and it turns out that the company has acted incorrectly in violation of the requirements, Trygg E-Commerce will take action. In the event of serious shortcomings, certification may be withdrawn with immediate effect. All of this means that you, the consumer, can be confident that only reputable companies carry the Safe E-Commerce mark.
